Event Details

The event will start on Friday evening with a Meet and Greet featuring a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres, followed by dinner. We encourage everyone to bring copies of music they no longer need so that we can, once again, have an Oldies but Goodies repertoire session after dinner on Friday night. Ring through some of these pieces and decide if you might like to take the music home to your choir FREE!!  Also, Handbell Olympics will reappear this year as a wonderful ice breaker and team builder.

Saturday will begin with breakfast, followed by your choice of two different workshop tracks:

Introducing “Distinctly New England”

New this year is the introduction of a special ringing track, “Distinctly New England,” that will run in parallel with our workshop offerings. Clinician Karen James will lead those that select this option in the study and preparation of three Level 4 pieces over the course of the event. These pieces will then be presented to the rest of the event participants during our last session. Choose this option if you are a Coppers level ringer that would like to stretch your ringing skills, or a Bronze level ringer who just can’t get enough! If you choose this ringing track, you will be charged an additional $11.50 when you register to cover the cost of the music, which will be yours to keep. We ask that you indicate your three preferred ringing positions when you register. You will receive your music and ringing assignment during Registration Check-in, giving you time to look over your music before the first rehearsal.

Workshop Track

This track will be similar to what we have offered in the past, with a variety of workshops to choose from throughout Saturday:

  • How do I Play This?  with Sue Chamberlin
  • Bells in Worship  with Bridget Scarlato
  • Rhythms and Time Signatures  with Krishna Ersson
  • How to Re-Energize your Choir  with Jane Nolan
  • Cup Stacking  with Karen Leonard
  • Festival/Conference Coppers Music  with Diane Burke
  • Festival/Conference Tins Music  with Carlene Ruesenberg
  • Schulmerich Bell Maintenance  with Sue Chamberlin
  • Malmark Bell Maintenance  with Dan Moore

Open Discussion

In addition to Handbell Olympics on Friday night, the two tracks will join together for an Open Discussion on Saturday:

“Whether you ring in or direct a church choir, a community choir, a school group, or are a solo ringer, what are you looking for in your handbell experiences?”
