The board of directors of Area 1 recently approved a policy to address the guidelines that will be followed at Area 1 events regarding COVID-19 vaccination and masking. The complete policy is published here.  It may also be viewed at any time at this link: Area 1 COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

Note that this does not affect Winter Workshop in January 2022, but does affect all subsequent sponsored events.

To ensure that Area 1 events are as safe as possible, we will be requiring proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status* for all participants. Area 1’s definition of an up-to-date vaccination status is detailed in the CDC Booster Guidelines,

You will need to UPLOAD YOUR PROOF OF VACCINATION AT THIS LINK HERE. This link will also be shared in email communication when you register.

Participants will also be required to wear a mask at all public indoor venues, except when eating.

All audience members must also provide proof of up-to-date vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the performance. Area 1’s definition of up-to-date vaccination status is detailed in the CDC Booster Guidelines. Audience members will also be required to wear a mask at all indoor venues.

The Area 1 board will revisit this policy and amend it as circumstances change and as required by venue.

By attending/participating, you acknowledge and fully understand the nature and extent of the risk related to the COVID-19 virus and other contagious diseases and agree to attend this event at your own risk. You expressly acknowledge that COVID-19 is highly contagious, and infection can result in death, the risk of infection and transmission are higher in indoor facilities, there are no safety precautions that totally eliminate the risk of contracting COVID-19, and individuals with various underlying medical conditions may experience worse outcomes.

*Should you have a medical exception for being vaccinated, a doctor’s note is required and should be emailed to

NOTE: Where state, local and/or venue policies vary from the Area 1 policy, the more strict policy will be in effect.
