Event Details

The New Hampshire Skill-Building Workshop is an opportunity for ringers to review basic skills and techniques in the context of repertoire. Ringers can attend as individuals or as part of a larger choir, and attendees do not need to bring their own equipment. The repertoire being used will be available on site for attendees to either purchase or simply borrow for the event. One piece of repertoire used will also be used at the 2024 Massachusetts Spring Ring, and the second will be used at the 2024 Maine Spring Ring; for choirs planning to attend one of those events, this workshop can constitute some early preparation, but for attendees not planning to participate in either Spring Ring, it’s simply an opportunity to work on some excellent pieces of music alongside other ringers from your area. Snacks will be provided. Come ring while getting to know other handbell musicians from throughout New Hampshire!

Registration

Registration will be open through January 27, 2024.

Clinician

Sue Chamberlin was introduced to handbells at a church Christmas dinner in 1980 and has been ringing, directing, and teaching handbells ever since.  Sue attended her first Area 1 Festival in 1983, learned to ring 4-in-hand (and many other techniques) at that event, and has taught at least one class (ringing techniques, solo and ensemble ringing, and handbell maintenance) at every Area 1 Festival since then.  After retiring from teaching middle school math (and starting student and faculty handbell choirs at her school), Sue worked for Schulmerich Bells for seven years as their New England sales representative.  Sue has served on the Area 1 Board as NH State Chair, Area Chair, and treasurer.  Currently, she directs a chime choir and two bell choirs at her church, and rings with the Merrimack Valley Ringers.
